[Music?] Then I J’d In My Shorts
I just don’t know what to say, I want to be funnier but it’s just not (to me).
[Music] Go Your Own Way-ah-ah-ah…
[Music] It’s Like Deja Eghue
So some of you know that I’m not a huge fan of the entire do-over genre, meaning remakes. For the most part I think that if it was done and done well that there is no reason someone else needs to do it over, especially if it was a classic.
Sampling, remixing extended cuts being the exceptions it just really makes me go ; “Meh.” The last one that really annoyed me and I just can’t stand is Katy Perry’s remake of the Outfields class Your Love, which was retitled Use Your Love.

Katy Perry – Use Your Love
The Outfield – Your Love
[Additional Wiki Info]
It’s not that I think no one should ever redo someone elses cut ever I just feel like if it’s going to be done you better bring the funk, not drop some post teen-bop-reversal-finger-snap off the cross beam.
One perfect example of how it should be done is what Mark Ronson did to “Britney Spears” track Toxic on hi sVersion album.
Mark Ronson – Toxic
Britney Spears – Toxic
What’s really genius about Mark’s version is that he throws ODB’s (RIP) Tiggers cut in their like it was written for it.
“Baby can’t you see/I’m calling/A girl like you/Should wear a warning/It’s dangerous, I’m falling/ … /Ohhh nigga I’m burnin’ up“
Genius. I never liked the song Toxic, but in this form I do, yeah I’m an ODB fan but that’s not the why… it’s because this record is constructed extremely well. Just listen to it a few dozen times (and you should).
The horns and damn near Stax style bounce… Brilliant.
But I digress.
You know I think I like B.o.B.’s version better than the Katy Perry remake.
B.o.B. – Use Your Love
I’m not blaming Katy mind you for the version she did, just her handlers. (I do blame her for those glasses though.)
Oh well… I guess I’ll just go listen to my Play Deep vinyl some more.
[Music?] Most Popular Worst Singers… Ever?
Anyone catch this article title Singers Who Can’t Sing?
MADONNA
The problem with Madonna (or, I should say, one of the many problems) is that she’s built a career on being a diva, and divas need to sing. No amount of line dancing, costume changes, or bodybuilding can hide the fact that she can’t sing.

[Music] Ashlee Simpson-Wentz-Rockwell-At-Work-Eatin
So Ashlee Simpson and her “male” counterpart spawned sometime in the past twenty four hours.
I don’t care about that, however what I do care about is the following.
Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya), which sounds eerily like something(s) I’ve heard before, hmmmmm.
Rockwell – Somebody’s Watching Me
Men At Work – Who Can It Be Now
Hall & Oates – Maneater
I then was thinking about how much like Timbaland the overall track sounds, you know like what he did with Furtado a few years back.
Nelly Furtado – Maneater
Then I found out why.
Of course why wouldn’t it be.
[Music?] 79 Cent, Street Cred
Again this passes for news:
Taco Bell Lawyers Get Tough With Rapper 50 Cent
“The squabble is over a fake letter sent out by Taco Bell Corp. asking 50 Cent to change his name for one day to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent to help publicize its value menu.”
Full AP story here.
[sigh]
[Music] Back II Life, Soulful
Classic flashback yo.
