[NFL] Romo Please!

without comments

So yesterday was the great slacktastic day of not sleeping… [sigh] I did however get to watch the Cowboys (meaning the offense), have a complete forth quarter meltdown resulting in a loss to the Steelers.

They only lost by a touchdown (which was thrown directly to the DB and returned for a touchdown in the last moments of the game). Until then it was 13 -13 and the Cowboys were still in control (of their tears).

Amazingly enough the Cowboys put a hurt on Pit with their defense, I’ll admit I didn’t see that coming… I did see Romo turning the ball over (not three three times mind you) but you had to know he’d put it into some DB or LBs hands during the game once or twice.

Oh well… I still think they’ll make the playoffs, not sure it will matter but maybe it will. May, be.

Dallas does have to face the Giants and Ravens at home and then head on the road to Philly. Even if they win out they might not make it… only time will tell but as long as the Bucs do something I’ll still watch the playoffs.

[NFL] Talk About Weaksauce

without comments

Yesterdays football games were really on the weak side, three games and three blow outs. [sigh]

And I was expecting so much more from the Cards… [slaps forehead]

Let’s just hope they don’t tank it and head right into the gutter over the remaining few weeks of the season.

Brian Westbrook

Eagles RB : Brian Westbrook

Did you hear what happened yesterday in the Eagles loss to the ‘Skins?

Brian “the offense” Westbrook came down with broken ribs, ouch!

“We’ll see how it works out for him,” Reid said.

You can scope it on the ESPN here.

The Lions GM Matt Miller was let go by the team today after seven years in that position.

Some think this is way over due, but Lions fans don’t get all excited you guys have quite a ways to go still. Just saying.

You can read the “news” here.

[NFL] The Morning After…

Felix Jones

::flashback::

This should be a great game either way but I’m sticking with the boys to win this one thirty seven to twenty four in a amazing display of offense from both teams.

Full post here.

Boy was I wrong… (about the Packers and Cowboys game) last night. The Cowboys ended up winning twenty seven to sixteen (27 – 16) in what turned out to be just mild bursts of offense throughout the game.

Romo threw for two hundred and sixty yards (260) with one touchdown and one interception on a seventeen of thirty efficiency. While Aaron Rodgers threw for two hundred and ninety yards (290) on twenty-two of thirty-nine passes with no TDs or INTs.

What was “shocking” however, wasn’t that the Packers held T.O. to just seventeen yards on two catches. It was that Barber and Jones combined to rush for two hundred and seventeen yards (217) on thirty-five attempts(35).

Ouch!

We can see now that the “controversial” first round pick of Jones over “what’s his name” isn’t so controversial after all, now that Jones has scored three touchdowns in three games and is going to give defensive coordinators another big play player to be concerned with.

This should be an interesting season… especially with Brady out for the Patriots and them getting their muskets handed to them by the Dolphins in a thirty-eight (38) to thirteen (13) blowout yesterday as well as a few other upsets. [NFL Scores Here]

Good times.

[NFL] Someone In The Crowd…

with one comment

I’m not sure why they (the NFL) needs to play the other games today… can we just fast forward to the Packer and Cowboy contest tonight on Sunday Night Football?

There are quite a few people actually picking the Packers to win this game based on the fact that Dallas hasn’t won in Lambeau field in ever, and their battle against the Eagles on MNF (Monday Night Football) was just “too much” so the thinking there is that they can’t get up like that for a second week in a row.

And much is being made of the their previous meeting last year when both teams were ten and one (10 – 1) where Packers QB Aaron Rodgers played extremely well coming in for Brett Farve who was injured in the early moments of that game. The Packers played well but the Cowboys made a lot of mistakes (which they are still doing this year) but ultimately won that contest 37 to 24.

Least we not forget also that the Cowboys get to gameplan for the Rodgers as well as introduce the amazing Felix Jones into the return game as well as into the backfield.

I would love to see them line up Felix on the outside at the one or three reciever spot and see what comes out of that.

This should be a great game either way but I’m sticking with the boys to win this one thirty seven to twenty four in a amazing display of offense from both teams.

Good times.

Go Boys!!!

[NFL] Damn Dem Boys

RB #22 Emmit Smith

I read and article (excerpt) over at ESPN this morning of Jeff Pearlman’s book Boys Will Be Boys, a recount of the early nineties and the Dallas Cowboys dynasty.

I saw this and couldn’t stop laughing:

“Personally,” says one Cowboy, “I thought Kevin Smith was a better player.” Whereas the other primary cornerbacks — Smith, Larry Brown and Clayton Holmes — embraced contact, Sanders was a feather duster. When he tackled, it was with the gusto of a 90-year-old woman.

What’s funny is my Dad and I used to say the same thing, Kevin Smith was my favorite corner he was way more physical and an all around better football player than “Primetime”, however Smith paid the price by having ankle injuries and the like throughout his tenure with the Boys.

Oh and check this gem:

“One time a running back ran a sweep toward him, and Deion dove half-hearted into the turf,” says Case. “We’re watching film the next day, razzing him pretty good. As serious as could be, he said, ‘I saw that dude coming and I had to make a business decision.’”

I remember him doing that in so many games… that’s why I never really liked Dieon “the football player” very much.

You can check out more excerpts of the book here.

[NFL] Vince Done?

with one comment

Well apparently those rumors of a MIA Vince Young from earlier this week might have been more accurate then previously thought.

We hear word today of the following:

“The mother of Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young said he’s “hurting inside and out” and indicated he might not want to play football any longer.”

The rest here.
