[Gear] El Studio 1/10

without comments

Thought I’d take a minute to throw out a quick tour of my home studio. I’m going to try and keep each part brief and talk about the things that I think will be of interest to some of the gear heads out there.

As we progress I’ll explain why what’s where and what I do with what piece of gear and software in the chain, etc.

So we’ll start out with… [drum roll]

My Roland MV-8800.

Thanks in a massive way to the Bunny I now (since Dec. ‘07) not only own this beast, but also am afforded the opportunity to craft and push myself in sound design and song construction.

I also have attached to the MV a mouse and 19″ wide aspect ratio monitor, which help tremendously over the MV’s stock built in 4″ color LCD panel.

[Note: The MV does not support resolutions larger than 640x480 in case you're wondering.]

I throw out most of my percussive ideas on this bad boy in just a matter of minutes… someday I might even throw up some tutorials on this thing but for now just know that I do a lot of sound design and percussion on here (hip-hop or otherwise).

When I get around to the next part of the tour I’ll talk about what the MV-8800 is sitting next to and atop of and why.

Until next time.

Late.
