Is it April already? Or is this legit…. anyone know?
Doug Lowenstein, the president of the Entertainment Software Association is expected to announce within the next 48 hours that E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the definitive video games show, has been cancelled. Industry sources have told Next-Gen that the reasoning behind this move is primarily one of cost versus return. Publishers aren’t getting the media attention that they expect from the large amounts of cash that they’re putting down to exhibit at the show.
Ok so this past Friday, I broke down and scored me a 360 [Xbox360]. And let me just say my first impressions are:
Interesting aesthetics, (reminds me of something Apple would make).
Extreme lack of quality titles (same thing that plagued the original Xbox).
Wireless controls, standard USB, DVD player support and power down/up from the wireless controls functionality very posh.
Dashboard interface very nice.
Xbox Live integration and added features very cool. [Downloading Demos etc.]
Streaming music and video from a PC also nice.
Being able to play your own soundtracks no matter what game you’re playing is very tits.
Oh yeah and gaming in 1080i 16:9 on a 50″ big screen… mmm, mmm good.
The only titles I opted to pick up were Dead of Alive 4 and Oblivion (which I have yet to open and or play [ever]). I’m really looking forward to Mass Effect and a few other titles which will be hitting this August.
So yeah , haven’t had a lot of time to play with it since I just got it and basically… well life is getting in the way.
Now I’m not a huge fan of prequels, mainly because of George “I Can’t Stand It Let’s Put In Another CGI Muppet” Lucas, (yeah it’s a Saga reference foos).
But this I have high hopes for because well, why not?
Ok so I scoped out Clerks 2 this weekend with some friends… (went Saturday didn’t want to get hip humped by all the hardcore Smith clones). What was hysterical is we went to an approximately 3:30PM showing and there was a line, oh no not an actual line but you know bank style ropers to point you in the direction of the back of the multiplex, to stand and huddle with the masses as those super fly high school students do a once over on whatever that sticky shit is on the bottom of the theater floor.
But yeah there were no people there, and what’s more funny they told us we had to form the line and wait there.
=-/]
Anyways…
And after seeing it, yeah Mallrats is still my favorite Kevin Smith film. Back off Smithites!
Ok I know some people aren’t into the whole dick and fart joke scene but for me growing up even though I think it’s the darkside of comedy (yeah it’s a Saga reference) it still manages to make me laugh.
So I’m sure quite a few of you saw previews for the movie and have already either seen it or will try and snag it on DVD, or possibly torrent that. Either way you’ll probably come across it in the future, and for fans of the original you might be disappointed.
I really ‘liked’ the original but didn’t ‘like-like’ it… that being said. This movie just has some fantastic moments.
My favorite still is when Jeff Anderson’s character [Randal Graves] is committed to taking back the phrase: “Porch Monkey.”
I damn near wet myself.
That and throwing out things like: “Go-Bots were like the Transformers of Walmart.”, or something to that effect.
And let’s not forget the classic: “You can’t taste racism.”
So basically it’s like you and your friends talk and act and in some cases the way you wished you acted.
Either way mad props out to the Smith clan good things and now maybe we can get to making that Mallrats prequel and sequel. ;-)]
